Love and Relationships

Because relationships are complex, we can run into a wide range of difficulties along the way. Most of the time, though, we can bring them back to their core and see that they’re actually quite universal—while still being unique in the way they show up in each relationship. In this section, I’m going to write a few articles that explore different ways of understanding the essence of relationship issues, in the hope that you find one that resonates with you. I strongly believe that going to the essence helps us uproot a problem far more efficiently than approaching it from the top down with techniques and strategies.

We all want to feel connected, at the end of the day—that’s our most fundamental need. Being connected to our loved ones means feeling seen and met where we are, and accepted for who we are.

We can all achieve that. It just takes a bit of work—and in a way, that work is the gift relationships bring into our lives, and one of the reasons they’re so good for us in the long run.

Yet they still feel lonely, and sometimes resentful, and they have a hard time understanding why they can’t reach each other.
